The Baltimore Orioles – once upon a time: the Milwaukee Brewers, and then for 52 long years, the St. Louis Browns. Finally, the team ownership wised up and got permission from MLB officials and moved the team to the Baltimore area in 1954, where they adopted to Maryland’s state official bird as their new team name. The team is also known as the “O’s” and/or the “Birds” into today’s MLB’s shop talk circles and are luck to play out of Oriole Park at Camden Yards – a stadium that is situated very close to the birthplace of baseball great – Babe Ruth. The Franchise, thankfully, has come a long way since their first seasons in Baltimore. Once known as a failing team and franchise – the new owner’s bought out all shareholders of the team in 1954 and resolving their last ties to the St. Louis area. The “Oriole Way” didn’t begin until the squad picked up Paul Richards, this style of baseball required meticulous training and coaching, not letting a single player or coach see the field until the had mastered every detail of the game, from the most basic to the most complex of skills. A tradition that the Orioles continue to this day.
