Not to confuse anyone, but the Texas Rangers are located out of Arlington, Texas and play out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, which has been renamed more recently to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (less confusing right?). Trust me, it makes sense. The Rangers were founded back in 1961, but were not the Rangers at the time, nor were located anywhere in Texas. The Rangers originally played out of Washington D.C. and were known as the Senators. In between being the Senators and Rangers, the team moved to Minnesota and took the Twins title for a short time before relocating finally in Texas. While the Rangers have always been a prestigious team never to be overlooked by their opponents, the team reached a new level of supremacy, not when they picked up a new pitcher or manager, but when the team was sold in 1989 to an investment group that was spear headed by former President, George W. Bush. At the time, G.W. Bush’s father was operating out of the Oval Office. Bush’s direct affiliation with the team came to end shortly thereafter in 1994 when he was elected Governor of the State of Texas.
