The Charlotte Bobcats, one of the newest members of the NBA, are members of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association. The team was founded in 2004 as a replacement for the city’s former NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets, who moved to New Orleans following the 2002 season. The Bobcats play their home games at Time Warner Cable Arena. After the Hornets left Charlotte, several notable ownership groups approached the NBA about buying the city’s new franchise. The winning group, Black Entertainment Television, led by Robert L. Johnson, has other notable owners such as Nelly. The ownership group also became the NBA’s first African American team owner. Losing the team’s first game against the Washington Wizards. The team quickly rebounded within 2 days and defeated the Orlando Magic, 111-100. But, not to come as a surprise the team ended their opening NBA season with a dismal record of 18 wins and 64 losses.
