The Toronto Raptors…not much else to say since they lost Vince Carter, while the team did exist prior to Carter’s acquisition, when they joined the NBA in 1995. When Carter joined the team during a 1998 draft trade the team literately exploded! Toronto finally started to sell tickets, establish a fan base and most importantly win games. Under the leadership of Carter, the Raptors made it to the NBA finals three straight years, 2000, 2001 and 2002. Unfortunately, the team’s management made a poor decision in 2004 and traded Mr. Carter to the New Jersey Nets. This left the team leaderless and with only a single playoff appearance since. Even though they have lost their one-time leader and the only other Canadian NBA team, the Vancouver Grizzlies, the team has stayed true to their home arena at the Air Canada Centre since 1999. Hopefully the team will be led into a new generation of greatness under its newest member, coach Dwane Casey, I wouldn’t hold my breathe.
