From 1960 to 1987, the team has played for the city of St. Louis, Missouri after it moved there. The team was given the names ‘Big Red’ or ‘Football cardinals’ to avoid getting confused between the St. Louis Cardinals which was also playing for the same city. There are some other common nicknames given to the team like ‘Gridbirds’ and ‘Cardiac Cards’ and so on. Before the year 1988, the team has played for their home city at Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Stadium for the next 18 years, after it moved to Tempe, Arizona.
