Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, the Chiefs, are a member of the Western Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Before moving to Kansas City, the Chiefs were originally from Dallas, Texas and were called the Texans. Founded in 1960, the Texans, were a charter member of the American Football League. Shortly thereafter, in 1963 the team relocated to Kansas City and joined the NFL in the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. While a member of the AFL, the Chiefs won three league championships: 1962, 1966, and 1969. The team won the second AFL-NFL World Championship Game against the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV in 1970. This victory remains the teams last championship victory. The Chiefs have called Arrowhead Stadium home since 1972. The stadium has a maximum capacity of 77,000, making it the NFL’s fourth largest stadium. Arrowhead Stadium has a reputation as being one of the loudest and toughest outdoor arenas for a sports team to play in. The team attributes all noise created in the stadium to the fans.
