Based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada the Flames are members of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League. The Flames are the third professional hockey team to call Calgary home; the prior two being the Calgary Tigers and the Calgary Cowboys. The Flames once played their home games at the Stampede Corral, up until 1983 when they moved to their present home at ScotiabankSaddledome. The arena was originally known as the Olympic Saddledome. Founded in 1980, the team was originally located in Atlanta from 1972-80. The Flames are not the only present NFL team in the Alberta region, they share the territory with the Edmonton Oilers. The closeness of the two teams have led them to develop a well respected rivalry, one that has come to be known as the Battle of Alberta whenever the two face off. The Flames have only a single Stanley Cup Title coming from the 1988-89 season.
