The team sprang forth from a 1967 six team expansion, locating the team in Bloomington, Minnesota. The team would later reposition themselves in Dallas during the 1993-94 NHL season. New team owner, Norm Green, decided to relocate the team after experiencing drops in attendance and profitability.At first team owner looked into placing the team in Anaheim, California. However, the NHL had decided to place the Might Ducks there instead in 1992. The final factor to help turn the team towards the Dallas area, was actually from former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Roger Staubach. Staubach had insisted that the Dallas area would be satisfactory for the team’s needs.Originally, the team played out of Reunion Arena, that is until, prior to the 2001 season, the team moved into the American Airlines Center. The team’s first and only Stanley Cup Title cam in 1998-99.
