The Philadelphia Flyers are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The team was founded in 1967 as a part of a NHL expansion. The Flyers were the first team to win the Stanley Cup title that was not a part of the Original Six teams of the NHL. The team won its first Stanley Cup title in the 1973-74 season. They also won the following season in 1974-75. The team is also tied for first place in all-time playoff appearances by any non Original Six team. While the Flyers have had two different stadiums since their beginning, the team has always been on the same road, Broad Street. The team’s first stadium was known as the Spectrum, which housed the team from 1967 up to 1996. In 1996 the team built a new arena, the Wells Fargo Center and plays there to this day. The Flyers historic rival in the NHL is the New York Rangers. When the two teams meet it is almost always a guarantee that a fight will break out on the ice.
