Cirque du Soleil Dralion is a touring production by Cirque du Soleil a Canadian Entertainment company. Dralion is the combination of the traditional Chinese circus and the Western contemporary circus that complements the meeting of East and West. A theme is applied to the title. The name is the combination of the words which are the dragon which represents the East and the Lion which represents the West. Dralion is the 12th Cirque du Soleil’s touring production and the first cirque show is not to be directed by France Dragone since 1985. Cirque du Soleil Dralion’s backdrop is a metallic structure 60 feet width and 26 feet in height, covered with aluminum tiles that gives it the appearance of medieval armor and a futuristic Chinese temple. Six giant claws are on top of the structure which allows the performers to climb the wall and suspend in mid air, and above the stage are three concentric aluminum rings which their specific uses, the first is used as a catwalk, the second is to support the acrobatic equipment and the third one is used by the performers to move up and down. The costumes of the Cirque du Soleil Dralion are having a vibrant color, and are inspired by the clothing from India, China and Africa. These costumes are being shape in accordance with the movements and the choreography of the performers. Dralion has the 1500 wardrobe for the show. Cirque du Soleil Dralion’s soundtrack features the vocals of Basque counter tenor Erik Karol and the Canadian Female vocalist Agnes Sohier and was released on November 9, 1999.
